Sonja Chevere demonstrated for me the power in taking action. As Sonja was taking her six year old daughter to school one day, her little girl asked, “Momma, why is that girl showing her backside? That’s a private part that she shouldn’t be showing to anyone.” Sonja looked up, and across from her daughter’s school, very near a high school, was the following Joe’s Jeans billboard.

Sonja was livid! She emailed the jeans company and expressed her concerns; she rallied friends, family, and the community through blog posts and emails to write to the company; and she even prepared a letter for her County Council person. A few days later the Joe’s Jeans billboard was down. We aren’t sure if they heard the protest, however, the end result was accomplished.
